Double Olympic triathlon champion Alistair Brownlee has presented his retirement from the game at the age of 36.

Brownlee received gold at London 2012 before defending his title in Rio four years later.

An international champion in 2009 and 2011, Brownlee is the no doubt triathlete ever to be crowned junior world champion, U23 world champion, European champion and Olympic champion.

“Triathlon has profoundly fashioned my existence. I contain dedicated almost half of of it to being a talented athlete, intellectual my childhood dream and reaching a ways higher than I ever dared to factor in,” Brownlee wrote on X.

“I see forward to embracing a rather slower slouch of existence, yet now not too leisurely.

“There’s a thrilling array of events, challenges and adventures anticipating me — things I’ve constantly wished to contain a crack at but haven’t had the likelihood to pursue.”
