Beau Greaves has won the WDF Women’s World Darts Championship for the third year running.

England’s Greaves, 20, went a set behind before defeating Scottish 18-year-old Sophie McKinlay 4-1 in the final.

After completing victory on the bull for an 89 checkout, Greaves said: “I’m just so relieved. I felt so much pressure.”

Ireland’s Shane McGuirk, 29, took the men’s title as he defeated 70-year-old Paul Lim 6-3.

Lim, nicknamed the ‘Singapore Slinger’, was appearing on the same Lakeside stage where he became the first player to throw a nine-dart finish in a world championship 34 years ago.

McKinlay was earlier beaten 2-0 in the girls’ final by England’s Paige Pauling, 16.

Archie Self, 15, became the first English world boys’ champion with a 3-2 win over Jenson Walker.

Players cannot compete in both the WDF world championships and the PDC tournament, which starts at Alexandra Palace on 15 December.
