European Track Cycling Championships: Anna Morris breaks individual pursuit track world record twice to win gold
The Welshwoman first set a new world record time in the qualifiers, clocking four minutes 28.306 seconds.
She then bettered that in the final, clocking 4:25.874 to beat Italy’s Vittoria Guazzini and become the first woman to win the European title in its new 4km format.
Compatriot Sophie Lewis finished sixth in the same event.
Elsewhere, Neah Evans was eighth in the new women’s kilo event, with debutant Iona Moir 18th, and Grace Lister finished fifth in the women’s points race.
Noah Hobbs settled for ninth place in the omnium.
Great Britain are third in the medal table with 10 in total, including two golds, four silver and four bronze.
The competition ends on Sunday, with British competitors in the madison and keirin.
