Gadirova won Olympic bronze after finishing third in the team event at Tokyo 2020, but missed out on Paris 2024 with an ankle injury.

Her twin sister Jessica also missed the Paris Olympics after tearing her ACL nine months before the start of the games.

“Having learnt so much from Jess’s journey we’d of course taken so many precautionary measures in my preparations,” Jennifer wrote on Instagram.

“My strength and landing stability results were really strong, so for this to happen was a complete shock and so unfortunate.”

She added: “This does not change my LA 2028 plans; it’s the start of the cycle, and it’s not just about how you start, but how you continue to grow and finish it.”

Gadirova won silver medals in the team event at both the World and European Championships in 2022.
