The Genesis Invitational will be held at a different location next month because of the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles, the PGA Tour has announced.

The tournament, which is organised by the Tiger Woods Foundation and takes place 13-16 February, was scheduled to be played at the Riviera Country Club in the Pacific Palisades, California.

However, the area has suffered the most destructive fire in LA history, burning more than 23,000 acres and devastating the community.

Organisers have yet to confirm a new venue but said they would provide further updates in the coming days.

The Genesis Invitational is one of eight PGA Tour signature events in 2025 and has a $20m (£16.3m) prize purse.

In a statement announcing the relocation, the PGA Tour said its “focus continues to be on the safety and wellbeing of those affected by the unprecedented natural disaster in Greater Los Angeles”.

It added: “We are grateful for the lifesaving efforts of first responders and the tireless work being done to put an end to the tragic wildfires.”

Riviera Country Club is the long-time home of the Genesis Invitational – formerly known as the Los Angeles Open – and is also set to host the men’s and women’s tournaments at the LA Olympics in 2028.

Tiger Woods said safety, plus the wellbeing of those affected, was the priority for event organisers.

“As of right now we’re not really focused on the tournament,” said the 15-time major winner.

“It’s more about what we can do to help everyone who’s struggling, who’s lost homes and had their lives changed.”
